Randstad is looking for experienced Chassis Mechanics for a permanent, full time position! Typical duties will include: -Inspect and Repair Chassis to make sure that they're fit for safe deliveries, and meet all DOT requirements -Maintain trailer chassis by installing and repairing brakes, suspension parts, pneumatic and hydraulic system parts; and modifying and constructing frames; retrieving parts and supplies from the parts room -Construct and repair metal truck bodies and trailers according to specifications using hand tools and power tools by laying out dimensions on metal stock, such as sheet metal and angle iron; using square, rule, and punch -Fits and assembles components using hand tools and portable power tools such as drill, rivet, and welding apparatus -Installs electric wiring for dome lights, taillights, brake lights, and other equipment according to specified procedures -Sprays or brush paints primer or protective coating on wood and metal surfaces -Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned Working hours: 7a-5pm Minimum education/experience necessary to perform the job: High School Diploma or GED, previous mechanical experience required. Previous welding experience preferred. Minimum special knowledge and skills required: Valid CDL License, ability to read and comprehend repair manuals. Have a strong mechanical troubleshooting aptitude and able to work independently. Experience working in a trucking terminal environment, using maintenance record keeping. Basic computer knowledge would be a plus. Ability to work outside in hot and cold conditions, to lift heavy equipment, stoop, crawl, crouch, kneel, stand and walk for long periods of time. Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Bend or twist the body and repeat the same movements. Shop environment surrounded by equipment used on the job. The work can sometimes be dirty and physically demanding, while other aspects of the job require patience and precise hand-eye coordination. We are currently working with a wholesale food service distribution company located in SE Houston, Texas near 610 & Crestmont that is looking for a Distribution & Inventory Control Manager. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic, growing company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining warehouse and transportation operations during the day in an efficient and effective manner to ensure proper inventory control and great customer service. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. - Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. - Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. - Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts. - Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. - Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. - Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees. - Maintains warehouse and driver staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Working hours: Monday - Friday Transportation/Fleet Management Duties: - Complies with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. - Assist in directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicles. - Review daily truck inspection reports and work to quickly resolve any issues. - Must be able to conduct general inspections of trucks for damage, cleanliness, and potential problems. - Must be able to maintain a budget. - Help to schedule and oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles. - Help to ensure all vehicles are receiving scheduled preventative maintenance and assist in scheduling/overseeing any repairs necessary. - Maintain a daily truck report so that management is aware of any issues with the fleet. - Work with management to plan and allocate resources in order to meet daily deliveries and pickups. - Ensure all vehicles are kept up to date in terms of registration and inspection. - Ensure all vehicles have proper paperwork (insurance, fish licenses, etc). - Assist in maintaining log and documentation of fleet and equipment related paperwork as required by FMCSR. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ year warehouse management experience. - Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively supervise others. - Must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize. - Proficient in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook (email). - Must be bilingual - English and Spanish. - Strong problem analysis and problem-solving.
