world of opportunity
exploreWork is a national initiative designed to motivate high school students to achieve higher educational goals and prepare them for successful entry into the workforce. The program introduces job readiness to high school students and increases awareness of the attitudes, skills, behaviors, and preparation needed for success at work.
Local collaboration between a Randstad team and a neighboring school is at the heart of this work-readiness initiative. The two organizations work together to provide career related mentoring and support services to meet the specific needs of the students.
exploreWork is an opportunity to provide every Randstad employee with a chance to give back to their local community and make a difference in the lives of area teens. This program truly reflects our core values of ‘to know, serve, trust’, and simultaneous promotion of all interests.
program overview
The program consists of seven activity-based modules that build upon one another in sequence. Each hour-long module focuses on three main ideas that are reinforced through development activities and require application of what is learned in the session.
The objective is for students to have an opportunity to reflect on their personal goals, consider future opportunities, and make informed decisions about the world of work.
Local schools and Randstad teams can work together to provide students with the opportunity to explore the career decision making process and consider:
- Personality, interests, and skills;
- Researching options in the world of work;
- Potential major, career, or vocation; and
- How to make a career decision.
Throughout the workshops, we've included topics such as job-personality fit, resume writing, interviewing techniques, professional etiquette, networking skills, and making the transition to the work world. We can also mentor students who would like individual career coaching or advice.
