Randstad's partnership with the YMCA
Randstad US and the YMCA of the USA established a national partnership in June 2008, to provide teens with career mentoring and workforce development skills that will enable long-term success. The initiative, called the Multicultural Achievers Program, is designed to motivate teens to achieve their higher educational goals and prepare them for successful entry into the workforce.
Critical to the program’s success is the volunteerism of Randstad employees, as well as our contacts with local businesses. With the support of Randstad employees, business connections and workplace expertise, the Multicultural Achievers Program will enhance its current workforce readiness program component and expose YMCA teens to more diverse, local career options and role models for success.
All Randstad locations nationwide are paired with a local YMCA site and are responsible for supporting three initiatives of the Multicultural Achievers Program:
- World of Work Tours – Randstad locations work with YMCA locations that currently run Achievers programs to conduct at least two biannual World of Work tours – on-site visits to local companies. Tours will allow teens to experience the workplace first-hand and meet with professionals to learn about their jobs and how they prepared themselves through education, work experience and career planning. Randstad locations help to plan tours and are encouraged to work with their local clients and prospect companies to host teens during World of Work tours.
- Workforce Development Seminars – Local YMCA and Randstad partner-locations work together to provide teens with a variety of workforce development seminars on topics such as resume writing, interviewing techniques and networking skills. YMCA locations with an Achievers program are encouraged to support two seminars per year. YMCA locations with youth/teen leadership programs are encouraged to conduct three seminars per year. Randstad public relations can provide presentation templates and support materials based on various seminar topics.
- Volunteer Mentors and Career Counseling – Randstad employee involvement is essential to the success of the World of Work Tours and Workforce Development Seminars. All employees are encouraged to expand their volunteerism outside of these programs to provide additional support including mentoring, tutoring, fund-raising assistance or other YMCA needs.
